Gerald Warner Taiwan Image Collection

The Gerald Warner Taiwan Image Collection simply must be browsed to be appreciated. It has pictures from the colonial period, generally focusing on the indigenous peoples. Presented by Lafayette College, there’s everything from postcards, like the one above (cropped) of the Taipei Imperial University to photographs of local festivals and temples. It’s all pretty wonderful. Search or browse from here.

  1. Thank you for the kind words about our website. We are always open to suggestions, corrections, or new information regarding the images in the collection. We also are in the process of adding another 600-700 images; more postcards and some unpublished b/w photos from the late 1930s.
